Referral applications are now open for the 2025 Kindred Matters Sibling Camp programs!

We are excited to announce that referrals are now open for the 2025 Kindred Matters Sibling Camp programs (formerly Camp To Belong Northwest/Oregon). These two camp sessions offer siblings who live separately a chance to connect and spend quality time together in a supportive summer camp setting.

Camp Sessions:

  • Session 1: June 27-29, 2025 | Suttle Lake Camp, Sisters, OR
A 2-night camp for siblings who live separately. Campers will stay overnight in cabins with their siblings and experienced sibling camp volunteers and move through the day activities with their sibling group. This session has increased staff-to-camper ratios to provide more supervision and support. These increased ratios make this session a good fit for campers who need more supervision, behavior, physical, medical, or emotional support. This camp session is an excellent fit for campers who may struggle with distractions from larger groups or require extra encouragement to stay engaged with their siblings. It is also a perfect camp session for younger campers or those who have not attended an overnight camp program. This session will also be a self-transport event.
  • Session 2: August 11-15, 2025 | Camp Magruder, Rockaway Beach, OR
A 4-night camp for siblings who live separately. It is anticipated to be our larger Sibling Camp session. Campers will move through their day at camp in “Family Groups,” which comprise their sibling group as well as 2-3 other sibling groups and our fantastic volunteer counselors. Overnight, they will stay in “Cabin Groups”. We have three cabin options for this session. Campers can request to stay in a cabin with folks who identify as the same gender they do, an all-gender cabin, or a cabin with their sibling group, and our team will do our best to accommodate requests in alliance with our staffing ratios. This session will have bus transportation from Salem and Hillsboro.

Why Apply Now?

  • Promote sibling bonding in a fun, supportive, and trauma-informed environment.
  • Respite opportunity for providers while their young people are engaged at camp.
  • Each camp session is tailored to meet different needs. If you are unsure which session is the right fit for a particular sibling group, please contact our team, and we will be happy to help.
  • Space is limited, and sessions can fill up!

Who Should Apply?

  • Siblings who live separately from at least one of their siblings.
  • Applications can be submitted on behalf of a young person by a provider, caseworker, CASA, etc. We recommend that the person who knows the young person best submit the application or the person who would complete the registration if the sibling group is selected to attend camp.

How to Apply:

  1. Review the camp details and select the best session for your sibling group.
  2. Submit a referral using the links below:
    • Session 1 Referral
    • Session 2 Referral
    • Our referral application is done through UltraCamp. If you have a camper who attended last year, the adult who completed the application can log into their account to complete the application. If you do not have an account, please create one. You can submit applications for multiple young people using the same account.
  3. Our selection committee will review all submitted applications until spaces are filled. The first review will take place the week of March 3-7. Applications will be open until filled. Our team will reach out with any additional questions. The selection committee is in place to ensure that we can safely and successfully serve a sibling group in our camp setting. The more thorough an application, the quicker the process usually is.

Important:

  • Referrals are open until filled. Apply before March 2 for priority consideration.
  • A separate application is needed for each young person interested in attending.
  • Please share this with other providers, caseworkers, CASAs, and anyone else you know who may have sibling groups that would be interested.
  • Questions? Contact Stacey Nash at siblingcamp@kindredmatters.org or Tia Nordstrand at tia@kindredmatters.org
